My name is Jeff Staker. I’m 46 years old and live in Salt Lake City Utah where I work in the field of medical imaging equipment. I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in early June of 2017. I had likely contracted the virus as a result of tattooing some time in the early nineties and unknowingly carried the virus for 25 years. I have long taken an interest in the politics of the american healthcare system. Prior to my diagnosis, I was aware of the fabled magic pill which cured hepatitis as well as the astronomical price tag attached to it. When I was diagnosed. I began looking into all of the possible options. The insurance company I am with through my employer made it clear that they would not cover the cost of the treatment at all. I looked into the possibility of returning to medicare by way of my disabilities but soon realized that it would be a long uphill battle. Aside from all of the insurance matters, my gastroenterologist informed me that I did not qualify for antivirals due to my liver damage being at an early stage. Then, I decide to Google “hep c medical tourism package” and I discovered a company called Surcation LLC. Surcation LLC advertises a complete travel package which includes not only flights and hotels, doctor appointment, blood test, receiving prescription and medicines from the pharmacy store. I began communicating with Surcation to find out more.
I spoke to Keith Salvato and asked him to put me in contact with former clients who could tell me about their experiences. I talked to one and his story boosted my confidence in the company, and the following week, I went ahead and scheduled my trip.
I left for my Medical adventure trip on July 9th 2017 from Salt Lake International. If you have anyy questions feel free to contact me by email.
